In this business there are currently a lot of separations between the Translation and Interpreting and then split again into Legal, Medical, Education, Business, Industrial, etc.
I consider myself to be a "Total Linguist", a "FACTOTUM", addressing all the fields, but only ONE language pair: ROMANIAN-ENGLISH!

Translation Services
$0.05-0.10 per word
$30.00 per hour
Interpreting Services
$0.90-$1.00 per minute for phone interpreting
$30.00-$50.00 per hour, in person intepreting, minimum 1 hour,
then increments of 15 minutes.
My translations rates are usually per word in the target language, that means when translated into Romanian the word count is higher than In English but lower viceversa.
Abstracting, editing, back editing, desktop publishing, localization and proofreading are charged per hour basis. These involve research, document layout, formatting, design and use of up to date software and tools. Consequently, the rate will depend on the source file specialization, quality, volume and of course the turnaround time.
The interpreting rates are per minute for the phone, and per hour for the personal interpretation at the location. Other fees might incur due to driving time, flight time, accomodation, etc.

Interpreting jobs can be prescheduled, in person or over the phone.
They can be out of state of MN, too, provided that additional expenses are covered.
